Even before African-inspired print really hit the mainstream, I purchased my first one from Sharmen J. Beauty at a small-business event. As a newbie to headwraps, it was nice to have a quality design clothed in beautiful packaging. It was as if Sharmen’s collection could have easily been found in a local boutique or major department store.
When I met her, Sharmen seemed like a design-focused artist. As time passed, however, she solidified her presence as the face of her brand. One stroll through her feed and your mood is instantly lifted by colorful photos and innovative headwrap tutorials. Much like her personality, Sharmen’s content is dazzling, alluring, and sophisticated.
Sharmen J. is a Designer, Model and Brand Ambassador with a background in Accounting and Cosmetology. She sews and designs her own headwraps, tie-wraps, and mask collections with fabric sourced from around the world. Sharmen J. Beauty launched it’s initial headwrap collection in 2016, but has expanded into so much more!
In her second year of business, the Lela leopard print was featured as one of the 7 Statement Headwraps for Summer on YAHOO Beauty! Now considered a social media influencer, Sharmen uses her knowledge of marketing and branding to help other business owners grow.
During the pandemic, in particular, she pivoted from more lifestyle content to informative videos. Sharmen has shared more glimpses from behind the scenes of her creative process as well as lessons learned as a creative entrepreneur through virtual fireside chats.
